product description

Target Group: Kindergarten, nursery, pre-school, and pre-K teachers and principals, daycare professionals, and other interested pedagogical professionals

The course will introduce participants to the use of Kuno Beller’s Developmental Chart 0–9. The chart is designed to help educators design developmentally appropriate learning experiences. A key aim of developmentally appropriate learning experiences is to avoid overwhelming and underchallenging children. The chart enables educators to get an individualized, nuanced perspective on the child’s development in eight areas of development: Bodily Awareness and Care, Awareness of Surroundings, Social-Emotional Development, Play, Language and Literacy, Cognition, Gross Motor Skills, and Fine Motor Skills. Because this knowledge is based on observations made by an educator familiar with the child, it can be directly translated into individualized, developmentally appropriate learning experiences.

Kuno Beller’s Developmental Chart is founded on a pedagogical model that views the child as playing an active role in learning about her social world and physical environment. Our approach to stimulating child development involves intentionally structuring a child’s surroundings in a way that targets both her individual strengths and weaknesses.

In this course (2 days), we will discuss the fundamentals of developmentally appropriate pedagogical practice and the concrete application of the developmental chart, including how to observe a child, how to produce and evaluate the developmental profile, and how to develop individualized learning experiences. Afterwards, participants gather their own experiences with the developmental chart and can send developmental profiles and individualized learning activities to the trainer, who will offer individual feedback in a personal one hour online supervision.

6-10 participants.

Our regularly offered courses are conducted in German. Courses in English can be arranged upon request.
